This week, a tragic accident took the lives of five students on their way to the UNE Congress in Goiás. They were part of a group from UFPA, traveling in a convoy when one of the buses was hit by a truck in the early hours of the morning.
They were young, full of purpose, and excited to be part of something bigger — a national student movement. It’s heartbreaking to think their journey ended this way.
Several others were injured, and support is being offered to families and friends. UFPA has declared three days of mourning, and a team of psychologists and social workers is helping those affected.
It’s hard to find the right words in moments like this. We just hold space for the grief, and honor their memory by continuing the work they believed in.
